Royal mail blackspots MAPPED: Why am I not getting any post?

Must read

ROYAL MAIL customers have been facing delays in receiving deliveries as more people turn to online shopping. The mailing service has shared an update on why some areas are experiencing delays.

Royal Mail has been experiencing delays which means some customers have been left without their parcels. It has now shared an update for those who have been left waiting.

Earlier this week, the company listed 28 areas across the UK that may be hit by delays.

This included 27 areas in England and one in Northern Ireland.

Royal Mail has now addressed possible delays across the UK and shared an update for customers.

In a statement published on the Royal Mail website today, it explained some offices are experiencing “resourcing issues”.

It continued: “Deliveries and collections are taking place across the UK today. However, deliveries may be disrupted in some areas due to resourcing issues in a small number of our delivery offices.

“We’re working hard to deliver as comprehensive a service as possible to all our customers during these challenging times.”

It added there has been “significant investment” in more resources to reduce delays as much as possible.

However, Britons in some parts of the UK could still be waiting longer than usual.

Royal Mail added the delays have been caused by an increase in packages and letters during the current coronavirus lockdown.

“Every single parcel and letter is important to us,” the statement continued.

“Despite our best efforts and significant investment in extra resources, some customers may experience slightly longer delivery timescales than our usual service standards.

“This is due to the exceptionally high volumes of mail posted during this further lockdown period, alongside necessary coronavirus-related measures we have put in place in local mail centres and delivery offices to keep our people and customers safe.

“In such cases, we always work hard to get back to providing our usual level of service as quickly as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

Strict coronavirus restrictions are currently in place in all parts of the UK.

For most of the country, Britons have been urged to stay home as much as possible to help ease the effects of the crisis.

With non-essential retailer stores closed, many people will have turned online to shop.

The increase in online shopping has put a strain on Royal Mail as it deals with more parcels than usual.

In a statement published with the list on its website, Royal Mail said it was “working hard to deliver the most comprehensive and high quality service we can to all our customers”.

The statement continued: “The combination of greatly increased uptake of online shopping, and the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, mean that all delivery companies are experiencing exceptionally high volumes.

“Despite our best efforts and significant investment in extra resources, some customers may experience slightly longer delivery timescales than our usual service standards.

“This is due to the exceptionally high volumes we are seeing, exacerbated by the coronavirus-related measures we have put in place in local mail centres and delivery offices to keep our people and customers safe.
