Collecting and harvesting of tree sap (basically water) during the early Spring months is a great way to have potable water in survival. This method does not require using a spile to tap the tree. Suitable trees for collecting: Maples, Birches, Box Elder, Sycamore, Black Walnut. Harvest when the nights are cool and the days are warming in the early spring. Dates may change depending on your area. This method should work in the summer with tapping wild grape vines. Advantages of this method include: closed collection system, lesser impact on the tree, can set up and leave and have it work for you, no boiling or treating of the water (Drink as is). Thank you for watching and I hope to see you in the woods.
