Wild Edible/Medicinal: Common Mallow

By | April 13, 2010

Related both to marsh mallow and Okra, the leaves of this plant are very nutritious. When cooked they also can thicken up soups. For medicinal purposes this plant is very soothing, especially for the lungs and throat. If you have a dry hacking cough that hurts or makes you uncomfortable, this plant can help ease that pain. It doesn’t stop the cough but helps with the discomfort the cough can bring on.
